"Was your family supportive?"

So incredibly supportive, it was almost unreal. My mom already knew, she’s knew at a young age. My sisters and brother all understood and said they’d stand by me. I was more terrified to tell my dad, because he’s very old school and he’s in the army and all that. I rang him, in tears and I just remember saying ‘You won’t have a daughter anymore, you’ll have a son.’ and he said ‘Well, I always wanted a son, too.’ My family have been great.
